Six Senses Belize | Emerald Caye Wins Platinum at the International Architecture & Design Awards 2026

We are thrilled to share some extraordinary news: Six Senses Belize | Emerald Caye has been awarded the Platinum Winner in the Hospitality Landscape Design (Hotels & Resorts) category at the International Architecture & Design Awards 2026 (IADA). This recognition is a proud milestone for our entire team and reflects the vision, dedication, and craftsmanship that have gone into creating something truly special in the heart of Belize.

The IADA is one of the most prestigious design competitions in the world, drawing entries from the most innovative architectural and design minds across the globe. This year's competition was especially fierce, with over 500 projects from 53 countries making it to the shortlist. To earn the Platinum distinction in this field is not just an honor, it is a testament to what is possible when design philosophy and natural environment are treated as partners rather than competing forces.

At Emerald Caye, the landscape was never something to be tamed or reimagined from scratch. Our approach, led by landscape design firm Maat Handasa, was rooted in deep respect for the island's existing ecosystems, from its protected mangroves to its pristine coastal edges. Every pathway, garden, and open space was conceived to feel as though it had always belonged there, drawing guests into an immersive relationship with the natural world around them. That philosophy now carries a Platinum award, and we could not be prouder.

This achievement also reflects the strength of the broader creative team behind Six Senses Belize. Architecture by Studio CABAN and the landscape vision of Maat Handasa have come together to create a development that honors both the Six Senses commitment to regenerative living and the extraordinary beauty of Belize's Caribbean coast.

For those who have chosen to invest in a residence at Emerald Caye, this award is further affirmation that what is being built here stands among the finest hospitality and residential projects in the world. And for those still considering it, there has never been a better moment to be part of something this recognized.

We are grateful to the IADA judges, to our design partners, and to everyone who has believed in this vision from the very beginning. The best is still to come.
